Who SendSlim Is Not For: What Patients Need to Know

When you’re looking for help with your weight, it’s important to know where to go.

SendSlim is a medical weight-loss clinic, but it is not the right place for every situation.
This guide explains, in simple terms, who SendSlim is not for and where you may need to go instead.

This page is general information only, not personal medical advice.
SendSlim does not replace 911, the emergency room, urgent care, or your regular primary care provider.

  1. People Having a Medical Emergency

SendSlim is not for:

  • Chest pain or chest pressure
  • Trouble breathing
  • Signs of stroke (sudden weakness, trouble speaking, face drooping)
  • Bad injuries from a fall or accident
  • Severe belly pain that won’t go away
  • Very high blood sugar with vomiting or confusion
  • Suicidal thoughts or thoughts of harming yourself or others

These are emergencies.

If you have any of these:

  • Call 911 right away, or
  • Go to the nearest emergency room

SendSlim visits are by telehealth and cannot safely treat emergencies.

  1. Children and Teens Under 18

SendSlim is for adults only.

We do not see:

  • Children under 18
  • Teenagers under 18

If a child or teen needs help with weight, they should see:

  • Their pediatrician, or
  • A clinic that specializes in pediatric weight management

  1. People Outside California or Nevada

SendSlim can only see patients who are:

  • 18 or older, and
  • Physically in California or Nevada at the time of the telehealth visit

SendSlim is not for:

  • People who live in other states
  • People who are traveling outside California or Nevada during their visit

If you are outside these states, please look for a local medical provider or telehealth program that is licensed in your area.

  1. Patients Who Need Full Primary Care

SendSlim is a specialty medical weight-loss program.
It does not replace your regular doctor.

SendSlim is not for people who need:

  • Regular primary care
  • Yearly physicals
  • Vaccines or school/work forms
  • Pap smears or prostate exams
  • Treatment for unrelated problems (like skin infections, ear infections, or chest colds)

You still need a primary care provider for your general health.

SendSlim focuses on:

  • Weight and obesity as medical conditions
  • Related issues like blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol (as part of weight care)

We may suggest you follow up with your regular doctor for other needs.

  1. People Who Need In-Person Exams or Procedures Right Now

Some health problems must be checked in person.

SendSlim is not right for you if you currently need:

  • A hands-on physical exam for a new or serious symptom
  • An urgent test that must be done in a clinic or hospital
  • Emergency imaging (like CT, MRI, or urgent X-ray)
  • In-office procedures right away

Examples of things that may need in-person care:

  • Sudden, severe back pain after an injury
  • New, strong leg swelling on one side
  • Sudden severe headache with confusion
  • Shortness of breath that is getting worse

In those cases, you should see:

  • Your primary care provider
  • An urgent care clinic
  • An emergency room, depending on how serious it is

  1. People Needing Intensive Mental Health or Eating Disorder Care

SendSlim is not the right clinic if you:

  • Need intensive treatment for an eating disorder, such as:
    • Anorexia
    • Bulimia
    • Binge-eating disorder with high medical risk
  • Are in crisis with severe depression, suicidal thoughts, or self-harm behavior

These conditions need:

  • A mental health specialist (therapist, psychiatrist), and sometimes
  • A higher level of care (intensive outpatient, day program, or hospital care)

If you are in mental health crisis or feel you might hurt yourself:

  • Call 911, 988 (in the U.S.), or your local crisis line
  • Go to the nearest emergency room

You deserve urgent, focused mental health care.

  1. People Looking for a Quick Fix or Crash Diet

SendSlim is not for people who only want:

  • A “quick fix” for a special event
  • Extreme crash diets
  • Unsafe, very rapid weight loss
  • Medications used in ways that are not safe or medically appropriate

SendSlim is built for long-term health, not short-term crash plans.

If you only want a fast fad diet without medical guidance or follow-up, SendSlim will not be a good match for you.

  1. People Who Do Not Want Medical Supervision

SendSlim is not for people who:

  • Want weight-loss medications without:
    • Sharing their medical history
    • Safety checks or lab work (when needed)
    • Regular follow-up
  • Are not willing to discuss:
    • Other medicines they take
    • Health conditions that could affect safety

Safe care means:

  • Answering questions honestly
  • Coming to follow-up visits
  • Being open to changing or stopping a medication if needed

If you do not want medical supervision, SendSlim will not be the right fit.

If SendSlim Is Not Right for You Right Now

If you read this page and think, “I don’t think SendSlim fits my situation,” you still deserve care.

You may need to:

  • See your primary care provider
  • Visit an urgent care or emergency room, depending on your symptoms
  • Work with a mental health professional
  • Find a local program that specializes in children, teens, or other special needs

You can still come back to SendSlim later if:

  • Your emergency or crisis has been treated
  • You are medically stable
  • You meet the basic requirements:
    • 18 or older
    • In California or Nevada
    • Looking for medically managed weight-loss care

A Quick Summary

SendSlim is not for:

  • Emergencies or crisis care
  • People under 18
  • Anyone outside California or Nevada during the visit
  • Full primary care or general checkups
  • People who need in-person urgent exams or procedures
  • Intensive eating disorder or mental health treatment
  • People wanting unsafe crash diets or “no-rules” medication use

SendSlim may be right for you later, once you are medically stable and meet these basic conditions:

  • You’re an adult (18+)
  • You’re in California or Nevada
  • You want respectful, medical help for weight and related health issues
  • You’re open to step-by-step changes, and to being safely followed by a clinician

Knowing who SendSlim is not for helps keep you safe and makes sure you get the level of care you truly need.
